POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Operations Manager at Emerge will help lead the organization to increasing levels of service, recognition and support. As a key partner to the Studio Director and Program Director, this position oversees Emerge’s day-to-day operations and facilities, ensuring that its stakeholders have the environment, information, and equipment they need for optimal engagement and performance. The ideal candidate promotes a positive and inclusive culture by collaborating to encourage team building, identifies and escalates issues, ensures efficient processes, and maintains mission focus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership
- Maintain and improve operations and procedures, collaborating with Studio Director and staff to respond to changing priorities
- Maintain consistent awareness of operations and make recommendations that increase efficiency, maximize operational budget, and nurture team culture
- Procure and maintain office equipment, order supplies, maintain inventory, and anticipate needs
- Manage databases and systems
- Manage facility needs. This includes working with Program Director to learn how to manage and maintain studio facilities and set up systems to promote and manage studio rentals.
- Field incoming calls/emails/correspondence as needed
- Manage an office staff and assist with other staff needs. Covers for front desk staff when need and available.
- Creates, coordinates, and maintains all Office/Programs/Studios Schedules & Calendars
- Tracks and reports on all payrolls for Staff
Communications, Marketing and Events
- Contribute to external communication efforts, including social media and community calendar postings, and website management
- Staff Emerge events; for example, performances and outreach and engagement activities
- Assist Program Director with all student/family related communications
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
A strong applicant will possess these qualifications:
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and relationship-building skills with a strong focus on an inclusive and positive environment. Must be able to build trust and interact with staff at all levels and with individuals of diverse backgrounds
- Agile and resourceful problem solver with a solutions-over-obstacles approach
- Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
- Proficiency with a wide range of software and engagement tools, including CRM systems, mail merges, Microsoft Office tools, and facility for basic technical troubleshooting
- Interest in the dance a plus

There is no typical day on this job; it provides a great deal of variety. Emerge is seeking to hire an individual who is motivated to make improvements and increase efficiency. This position comes with flexibility because some weeks include weekend events and performances.
This is a part-time position. Range of pay from $20-30/hr based on experience. Additional studio/travel perks available.

As an Emerge Dance Instructor you will lead a children’s dance class in various genres. Our classes include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop primarily with other specialties. Responsibilities include preparing for classes, teaching curriculum, and developing a positive rapport with all students and well as parents. We offer both recreation and competitive classes for children ages 3 thru high school level. Teachers of recreation classes are expected to choreograph 2-3 minute routines for our winter and summer shows. Teachers may be asked to teach at our White Oak and/or Harrison locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows all Emerge curriculum, playlists, and lesson plans with creative freedom
- Comes to each class in proper dress code, and allows appropriate time for set up
- Teaches each class with enthusiasm and positivity that encourages student participation, interaction, and fun
- Take weekly attendance and communicates with office staff
- Choreograph routines for winter and summer show
- Communicates with parents about student progress and upcoming events
- Collaborates regularly with fellow Emerge teachers
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for children and dance
- A background of working or teaching with children, or a love of doing it
- Performance background (dance, theatre, cheer, etc.)
- Has strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to work with children of all ages
- Readily welcomes feedback and suggestions on how to make classes most effective
- Tenacity and self-motivation: high energy level, self-starter with a positive attitude
- Demonstrated confidence and high level of integrity
- Ability to communicate appropriately with children as well as parents
Pay Range: $18-25/hr based on experience. Negotiable pay for specialized teachings.
As an Assistant Instructor you will assist the lead instructors in teaching children’s dance classes. Our classes include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop primarily with other specialties. We offer both recreation and competitive classes for children ages 3 thru high school level. Assistants may be asked to teach at our White Oak and/or Harrison locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comes to each class in proper dress code, and allows appropriate time for set up
- Teaches each class with enthusiasm and positivity that encourages student participation, interaction, and fun
- Follows direction from the lead instructor
- Collaborates regularly with fellow Emerge teachers
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be in High School or older
- Passion for children and dance
- Performance background (dance, theatre, cheer, etc.)
- Has strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to work with children of all ages
- Readily welcomes feedback and suggestions on how to make classes most effective
- Tenacity and self-motivation: high energy level, self-starter with a positive attitude
- Demonstrated confidence and high level of integrity
- Ability to communicate appropriately with children as well as parents
Pay Range: $12-$18/hr based on experience.
